AcerAspire E1-531 Refuses to light up I just replaced the damaged screen all the lights for the batt; hard drive seems to be working as they are showing when the machine is powered on. The screen is just blank even when I connect through HDMI and VGA using the fn and F5/F6 keys pressed together nothing is showing on the extended monitor. Ihave just bought a ACER es1-523-231l from Argos clearance, initially all was well as I only need it for work but I’ve found that no and again the screen will go blank. The blue power light is still on but I can’t do anything other than hold down the power button to restart. It tends to happen when the power cable is plugged in. September2014. I see several reports when I google black screen of death, but since several different issues can cause similar symptoms, I can't guarantee any of the fixes will work. If you have tried updating the BIOS and it did not resolve your issue, I recommend contacting Acer in your region to see what repair options are available. Hi@mianders, Try to do power drain, 1. Shutdown the unit. 2. Unplug the cables connected to the unit. 3. At bottom of the unit there will be a small tiny pin hole with a battery symbol close to it. Take a pin or a paper clip insert into it you feels like pressing a button hold it for 20-30 seconds. Ihave also tried the left port for about 30 minutes but I am still stuck on the 'Acer' logo screen. Press and hold the power button till the machine shuts off. Unplug the charger. Turn machine back on and immediately start tapping F2 key to re-enter BIOS menu. Press F9 to set default. Press F10 to save settings and exit. Tryto do power reset for the unit. Turn off your laptop. Remove the AC adapter cable , hard drives, the battery and any other attached peripheral devices. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds and release. Your laptop will boot up FO7bfX.
